Last month, I've mentioned that most Twitter users are passive. Now, Check this, some interesting stats about the much-trumpeted Twitter community. visualized.

  • red people = dead accounts. dead.
  • green people = lazy people, a lot of lazy people...
  • blue people = with more than 100 followers.
  • purple people = called "Active Users", they're loud, creating 75% of the tweets. (just loud, no followers?)
  • grey people = mkandlez said: not dead, non-lazy, not many followers, softly spoken. (zombies?)

OK. Here's a question: Where are the Spammers...? :)

Never mind. I am one of the "blue & a little purple" people, just follow me. :)

QOTD: Qin Gang, Foreign Ministry Spokesman

Stand your ground firmly. Your bottom decides where your brain is.
In response to a question by a journalist on what principles he follows when answering questions from Chinese and foreign media. He added that a spokesman "first must be loyal to the motherland and people, and second he needs to grasp policies comprehensively and with familiarity." With these two skills, there are "no difficult questions that cannot be answered."

100 Years of Design Manifestos

John Emerson has collected design manifestos dating back to 1909.

Since the days of radical printer-pamphleteers, design and designers have a long history of fighting for what's right and working to transform society. The rise of the literary form of the manifesto also parallels the rise of modernity and the spread of letterpress printing.

Apologies :( So like the weather nuts predicted, the party for millions of people hoping to watch Wednesday’s solar eclipse was ruined by heavy clouds and raining in Shanghai. I have not got any pic and vids of the eclipse, sadly. But I got three nice pictures from other parts of China. They're amazing. (You can view'em on my Flickr .) Also you can check out loads of videos on YouKu’s special eclipse page.
When the longest solar eclipse of the 21st century started at 8:30 am (0030 GMT), I did live tweet up(@lyanghsueh), in case you missed it:

  • The cloudy sky gets darker, but still no sign of the sun in Shanghai downtown. #
  • Shanghai has turned on its street lights. #
  • It's raining hard here, can't see the sun, sadly. But darker more. OMG #
  • Enjoy this special dark moment... well, we missed the total solar elicpse. Shanghai #
  • Gettin' brighter now, a new day starts. Wait! My power, my powers gone. No ;) #

While it may have been a bit of a letdown to not be able to actually see the eclipse, and only experience it through the night-like daytime darkness it gave us for a few minutes, it was cool none the less :)

Coming Soon: Total Solar Eclipse 2009

This summer, those of us living in China have the spectacular chance to see a total eclipse of the sun, a truly rare opportunity because the moon completely covers the sun, leaving a colorful ring around it called a Corona (meaning crown). Thousands of people from the rest of Asia and all over the world will be coming to China to witness the phenomenon. If you have never seen a total solar eclipse, then this is your chance to see this China solar eclipse 2009 from several major cities. This 22nd July will be the only solar eclipse of this kind this year and remarkably, instead of the usual 200 Km spectrum of visible areas, there will be 254Km, providing a magnificent area from which to view the eclipse from Shanghai, Suzhou, Hangzhou,Wuhan, Nanjing, Chongqing, Chengdu, Suining and Yichang. You have plenty of options to choose from if you want to go and see it yourself. The eclipse will also be visible for a full 6 minutes and 39 seconds, which is the longest visibility period of the 21st century.
